Sask Music: A Whoville Winter Taster from the Prairies

Well , the holiday season is soon upon us. @SaskMusic has created another great Radio Player List. I enjoyed all the tracks, indeed. There seems something for every taste. Codie Prevost’s song “Christmas in the Country” is refreshingly nostalgic as he “watches the snow fall on the spruce trees. ” Of course, I loved Amy Nelson’s “We wish You a Merry Christmas”  with Jared Robinson. I really enjoyed the relaxing harmonies of Tyler Gilbert’s “Christmas Night” especially at the end of the song. Mr Blues-on-the-Prairies, Jack Semple is thankful,  “Merry Christmas Baby, Yeah you sure did treat me nice. You gave me a diamond ring for Christmas now I’m living in paradise” from the Album “Cool Yule.” “Carol of the Bells” makes three appearances, Jared Robison gives a tranquil instrumental interpretation as does Yana from her Album “Rizdvo” (which I believe is “Christmas” in Ukrainian). Area 52 and Sandon Webber give a more electronic take. Wonderful cello and great vocals on “Silent Night” by Sally Meadows from the Album “Red and White.” Jess Moskaluke’s trademark emotive voice emotes “Thank God for Christmas”. I loved the lyric, “Love is shining everywhere. Peace is in the air.” Mr. Jeffery Straker’s “Comin’ Home for Christmas” has a great piano part, as we might expect, and great vocals, as we also might expect. “Any Place Warm” by Aven Grace has a thoughtful message. Theresa Sokyrka does a great job of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” from her album “Wrapped in Ribbon”:….but perhaps the most hopeful song of all goes to Belle Plain “Maybe Winter Won’t be So Long this Year.”
Here’s hoping! Happy Holidays!
