Creativity as Peace

The summer can be such a time of relaxation and refreshment. Times of space—space apart from deadlines and expectations, are at least some of the ingredients necessary for me to be creative. I am deeply thankful for the gift of creativity—creativity as expressed through me, and the creativity as expressed through others. I was at a wonderful concert in the park on Sunday; a friend was making her singer/songwriter debut, (at least to a larger, more public crowd) proudly sharing her music from a gazebo perched upon a grassy hill. The sun shone wistfully.  At the same time, I ran into another friend that had also recorded a CD a few years back; we listened together to the concert. I was tranquil within the work of these artist friends. Sometimes, to be creative is to be at peace.
